| La bateria de loma Larga està situada a prop del poble de Campillo de
Adentro, al sur de la vall de Bocaoría. Va ser creada el 1935 i dispossava de 4 obusos Ordóñez de 24 cm amb un abast màxim de 11.320 m, Malgrat els canons estaven amagats darrere un petit turó sense visió directa de la costa podien efectuar trets de trajectoria parabòlica. Disposa de 4 barbetes amb forma de semi-circunferència excavades a la roca i reforçades amb murs de contenció de formigó. El polvorí está enterrat sota la muntanya, al costat de l'entrada a la bateria. La seva missió era la defensa contra possibles desembarcaments a les platjes de La Azohía, Chapineta, San Ginés and Isla Plana, cobrint els angles morts del canons de Castillitos i Jorel. El 1940 va ser desartillada i els canon enviats a Ceuta. | The battery of Loma Larga is located near the village of Campillo de
Adentro, at the southern end of the wide valley of Bocaoria.
It was built in 1935 and it had four 9.45-inch Ordóñez howitzers with a maximum range of 11.320 m. Although the guns were hidden behind a small hill without direct view of the coast they could fire parabolic trajectory shots. The battery has 4 semi-circled shaped barbets carved into the rocks, that were reinforced by retaining concrete walls. The magazine was buried under the hill, next to the battery entrance. Its task was to defend against possible landings from the beaches of La Azohía, Chapineta, San Ginés and Isla Plana, and to cover the blind spots of the guns located in Castillitos and Jorel. In 1940 the battery was dismantled and the guns were sent to Ceuta. |
