The town of Remolinos, in the region called Ribera Alta near Zaragoza, has always been linked to salt mining .  From Roman times to present the exploitation of deposits of halite has been continous.

A landscape dominated by ravines that have excaved sinuous  watercourses with larger meanders where they open the abandoned entrances of the mines

The mine "La Real" was the first and largest in the hundred that existed: La Cesarita, El Balcón, Veneciana, Sancho Abarca, San Crescencio, El Gallo, Victoria o Buenos Aires among many others that produced about 1,4 Tm in the year 1879.  Today only works in the mine María del Carmen which produces about 400.000 Tm yearly.
